The troopers let us through, but we did not waste anytime getting out of the car to set up for a night shot. Actually, it was unreal, like something from Disney World, the mountains lit up by thousands of bright red dots. The last picture is from Mt Washburn in Yellowstone. You can see the fires in Yellowstone in the distance. They were not really an issue the five days we spent there. I am amazed by how much green is actually still there. We did have a lot of rain in June, which may account for why it's still green there.

Here is a shot from 2006 of the Grand Tetons when I went. This was taken on the Jackson Hole side of the Tetons. Notice how the grass is all brown at the lower part of the picture. It was taken July 31, 2006.
