Northridge High School is in the town of Middlebury, right in the heart northern Indiana of Amish country. Sometimes teams form schools like Northridge can be really tough because kids from Amish communities are instilled with a really strong work ethic.

Another great history lesson and game preview of tomorrow night's game by Mark Smith from usa-365.com, somebody didn't tell Mark that Al's Supermarket has relocated:
http://usa-365.com/week_9_2014_preview_CP_..._10-15-2014.htm

I'd be curious to get your take on Northridge, Tax? Is Northridge not the Wolves "natural competition" like the inner city schools of Indy, Detroit and Chicago you cite in the basketball thread. Isn't MC a blue collar hard working town or are we not comparing apples to apples with those poor Amish boys who don't even have electricity. I like the idea of playing a team that can actually run plays and give you a challenge. Good job to the new AD. I'd like to see them drop SB Washington now and possibly pick up a team that runs the option since MC has had a hard time the last few years defensing this type of offense. Look to pick up SB St. Joe, New Prairie or Mishawaka and then you have a real nice schedule. New Prairie would be a nice county rival especially since quite a few City families have moved into that school system the last few years.

Northridge is socio-economically similar to Concord and Penn. Not at all inner-city - very suburban. Lots of RV execs and their families live in that school district with the Amish.

EDIT - Also, the Amish mostly drop out before they are 16 and very few play sports, so you wouldn't be playing against Amish kids without electricity.

Rumor is, no Ryan Washington.

Do you know the reason why he may be out?

I was at the Freshman game tonight against LaPorte and when I got there, the Varsity was just finishing practice and then went to eat there team meal and I did not see Ryan, so it may be true. If it is, Hopefully he can be back for the LaPorte sectional game on Halloween.

I would have preferred to pick up one of the 5A schools from sectional 10 (Elkhart Central, Elkhart Memorial, Concord or Goshen) or even South Bend Adams, Mishawaka or Munster from sectional 9.

Northridge probably had an open date to fill because they played South Bend Adams in week 1 as the Northern Indiana Conference is going to pick up 4 new members joing their league next year with the Northern States Conference disbanding.

Why do you keep avoiding the "natural competition" question? Also, Elkhart Central and Memorial, Goshen, and South Bend Adams are not even worth making the drive to play. Northridge has strong community support and has good athletic programs.

Injury? Afraid to ask if it is not a good one. I have noticed the last few weeks that a lot of back ups have been playing because of injuries. If this is the case, hopefully they can get healed up with the bye week.

Michigan City High School is a city school competing in a conference of larger suburban type schools. Weather anybody likes it or not that is our identity. That puts Michigan City at a huge disadvantage in just about every sport.

Whenever I speak to people outside this area, Michigan City is more closely related with similar city type public high schools South Bend, Elkhart, Gary, Hammond and East Chicago rather than Chesterton, Valpo, Portage, Merrillville, Crown Point, Dyer, St. John and Schererville.

There is nothing wrong with Michigan City being compared with other city schools, those are all fine communities.

I hope he didn't mouth off to a team mom like he did a couple of years ago. I don't believe he was ever reprimanded for that one either. I guess it is ok when your "leader" calls a mom who is feeding you on Thursday nights a not so flattering name.

Crown Point 38 Michigan City 21. Crown Point led this game 38-7. City scored 2 late TD's to make it look respectable. Crown Point did most of there damage via the run. Bad night for the City defense and very poor tackling. City gets a week off before hosting LaPorte on Halloween for Sectionals.

I'll be honest, the Bulldogs were the best DAC team I saw all year. Their offense was thing of beauty to watch, and City had an awful time both making the initial reads off of the option, and making the first player get a tackle.

The great part is that it doesn't matter. You have two weeks to get healthy for the biggest game of your life.

Are the Wolves playing at home tonight and is Ryan Washington healthy enough to start?

City and LaPorte are on a bye-week and Ryan Washington wasn't hurt. He was suspended. Again.

Washington spit on a kid during the homecoming pep rally at school, but they decided to wait after the LaPorte game to suspend him.

Any word on what Ryan Washington's status is for the game on Friday. Even though he has done what he has done. I still hope he plays as he gives us the best chance to win.

Talking to Coach K after the CP game, he is supposed to be playing. Sounds like most of the injured players should be back as well.

Yeah, why should a high school kid be held to a higher standard than a college or professional player. It is all about "winning" isn't it? I guess integrity and character are just words anymore. Personally, I think you should be judged/evaluated by the company you keep. That last comment isn't directed at a high school athlete but by people, coaches, administrators, athletic directors and everyone in general. The goal should be to develop good players/people regardless of wins/losses. You only enable poor behavior by continuing to condone these type of actions. Could this be why we don't see the physical development in his performance that was expected either?

So to Michigan City Wolves, let's keep our fingers crossed. We have no chance without him.

If it were up to me, he wouldn't be playing. I think it is never to young to teach someone that they are not bigger than the team. Second chances are one thing, but we are past that. At what point is it a more valuable lesson to NOT get a second chance?
