Speaking of polls, here's one dealing with something besides our schools. There has been a lot of talk for many years about this subject. But just lately State Rep. Pelath and our own resident Sox fan had a bit of a conversation about allocating money to move the old South Shore line (somewhere).
"The country needs and, unless I mistake its temper, the country demands bold, persistent experimentation. It is common sense to take a method and try it: If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something."

QUOTE Harper presented documents showing people from U.S. Rep. Pete Visclosky, D-Merrillville, NIRPC and the RDA met in late spring 2007 to discuss a .15 to .20 percent county income tax to pay the local portion of the rail extension, which would equal some $350 million. He believed it would apply to the four counties the South Shore serves: Lake, Porter, La Porte and St. Joseph. Who are these morons? I can think of another county served by the South Shore -- Cook County, Illinois!!! If we have to pay for it at this end, let's see them make the folks at the other end of the line pay for it as well. Like that's going to happen. |
