We had a wildfire here last year. Over 12000 acres burned on the mountain. I realize that is no where near the devastation in CA, but I can relate. It is a very scary feeling. You look at the mountain and can see the flames consuming the trees. When the sun is up, everything has a yellow cast to it. It's all quiet and serene and the smell of wooksmoke is everywhere. The best way to describe what it's like so you all could understand is, you know when a tornado is about to hit? The air gets real calm and the hairs on your arms almost stand on end. Then, everything gets a greenish cast to it before all hell breaks loose. Well, that's the feeling you get, except everything is yellow instead of green and you can see hell inching its way toward you. Here, they were preparing to evacuate the town but the fire fighters got it under control, at least enough to stop it from coming down the mountain and into town. A very scary experience, let me tell you.

Yeah, they said a kid started the fire while playing with matches. What a bummer. Glad that wasn't my kid. Our fire was started by lightening.
