Good News!!! I have received official confirmation that a settlement has been reached and that another lockout has been averted and that all Michigan City Wolves Pop Warner football teams will report to their respective training camps on Monday.

Michigan City Pop Warner football action returns to Elston's Gill Field on both Saturday and Sunday as the Tri-Town Raiders will come to town decked out in their silver and black all the way from the communities of Schererville/Dyer/St. John:

All five Michigan City Pop Warner top tiered football teams were winners today against Tri-Town. Tri-Town is no longer wears their silver and black and have switched to a blue and white similar to the University of Kentucky.

Yes, it is serious. The coaches and officers at other programs seem to be more concerned about this than the players.

As for the kids, they work really hard, but the all enjoy the game immensely.

Michigan City's Pee Wee and Jr. Midget football teams have another bye this weekend but will playing teams from the state of Michigan the following weekend in the Mid-America Sub-Regional at Ames Field.

On Sunday at Ames Field in Michigan City, Northern Indiana Pop Warner football teams gathered to play in their respective age and division state championship games.

A highlight of the competition included Valparaiso Pop Warner’s Division 3 victory over Boone Grove. The 31-0 win marks the second state championship in the program’s history. With a 10-0 record, the Vikings are now preparing to meet their Mid-America region opponents from Southeast Michigan later this month.

In Division 2, the Southlake junior pee wees defeated Michigan City; the Michigan City pee wees defeated Southlake; and the Michigan City junior midgets defeated Tri-Town.

In other D3 games, Michiana’s junior pee wees beat Kankakee Valley, and Gary’s junior midgets beat Northlake.

All NIPWLS D2 and D3 Michiana and Valparaiso teams await their Southeast Michigan PW opponents in games slated for late November. Gary will play in their championship game on Thanksgiving weekend.

PNC Panther Pounce: Purdue University North Central will host its eighth annual Panther Pounce 5K run and walk, 10K run, and 1-mile run Saturday at the Westville campus. The Pounce features a cross-country-style course. Race-day registration and packet pick-up will begin on Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. at the Library-Student-Faculty building.

The sign-up fee is $20 with a discount rate of $15 each for groups of five or more runners or walkers, and families of three or more who pre-register. Boys basketball showcase: The Fieldhouse-Merrillville will host the 2011 Midwest Prep Boys Basketball Showcase on Saturday and Sunday with the top high school players and teams from Florida, Indiana, Michigan and Canada on hand.
