QUOTE More than one-and-a-half-million dollars in federal funding is going to help expand a community intellectual development center in Michigan City. Paladin is a non-profit serving people of all ages with disabilities. Congressman Frank Mrvan secured the money through a Community Project Funding request. The project will turn a warehouse building into classrooms and offices. “It’s absolutely amazing, and this is probably why I’m so wowed by the fact that we are so far, so quickly. It’s because the community support that’s wrapped around us and the things that people have brought forth to us, it’s just been an amazing journey,” said Steve Hobby, Paladin CEO. With the expansion, Paladin will be able to serve 220 people, a hundred more than they currently are serving. The project is expected to be done in spring of next year. |
