Michigan City has had cable TV and Internet access since 1983. In the subsequent 40 years Comcast has made minor upgrades to it's service as prices have spirally upward dramatically. Internet access becomes more important to us as we look to attract younger individuals and families to the area with the doubletrack process, but we essentially have one take it or leave internet provider with relatively high speed access. We're looking at building new facilities and infastructure with our 40 year old technology. Fiber Broadband is making in-roads to our neighboring communities, but not here. Chesterton and Portage residents have a choice between Xfinity or Frontier Fiber with faster access for less money, but there is no competition here. Streaming services appear to be the entertainment and news source of the future, but we're tied to antiquated broadband that costs $300 a month now. More and more people are working from home and need high speed internet for work and school, but how do we compete with limited resources. Has the question of competition come up in discussions?
