MICHIGAN CITY — Two people are dead after a serious crash in Michigan City.

Officers responded to the 700 block of E. U.S. Hwy 20 around 10:55 p.m. Monday. Upon their arrival officers found a severely damaged car resting against a semi-tractor trailer.

The two occupants in the car, a 26-year-old male driver and a 25-year-old female passenger, were pronounced dead on scene.

They believe the driver of the car was going westbound when they crossed the center line and crashed into a semi-tractor.

The driver of the semi was not injured.

At this time, investigators say the involvement of drugs or alcohol cannot be ruled out.

The Michigan City Police Departments Traffic division is investigating to try and determine why the car crossed the center line.
