Keith Harris, Republican candidate for La Porte County Commissioner District 1, has issued a release on the need for jobs in La Porte County.
“Elected county officials cannot create jobs for local residents, but what they can do is help create the environment to make our county attractive to perspective employers,” Harris said. “This can be done by many effective means, such as infrastructure improvements, tax incentives and strong promotion of our county and its benefits.” The county has an economic development organization tasked with this, but Harris said he believes county executives also should be playing an active role to attract new employers to the county. “We are seeing record unemployment numbers, and when this many of our county residents are without a paycheck, it affects many different aspects of life here in our county,” he said. “Locating and courting those companies that can provide our citizens with livable wage-paying jobs must be a priority to county governmental leaders. I will make that a priority when elected your next county commissioner.” Anyone wanting to learn more about the campaign to elect Harris county commissioner can call 878-9780, visit www.electkeithharris.com or e-mail kharris1010@yahoo.com. |
