Youths reportedly refused entry to officers, taunted them with obscene hand gestures

ROLLING PRAIRIE -- Sixteen minors were arrested early Sunday morning after someone called police about an underage drinking party.

According to a La Porte County Sheriff’s Department report, someone called the sheriff’s department shortly after midnight and said he had witnessed underage drinking while picking his younger brother up from a party at a home in the 5200 east block of CR-150N.

When deputies arrived at the home, the youths inside reportedly refused to open the door and taunted officers with obscene hand gestures. Deputies contacted the caretaker of the home, who then contacted the homeowners, who live in Illinois, to receive permission to force their way into the home. The caretaker’s daughter, Erika Wulcznski, 19, of Rolling Prairie, reportedly lived at the home and was inside at the time.

Once inside, deputies and Indiana State Police found about 30 young people hiding in various spots throughout the house, according to a press release, including in two separate attics. Beer cans and plastic cups were also reportedly found throughout the home.

Wulcznski reportedly became irate and moved toward her mother, the caretaker, who had arrived at the home after police had already entered. Police subdued her with pepper spray. She was arrested for ABC violation, resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct.

Stephen Moore, 19, of New Carlisle, was charged with resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct.

Justin Morlan, 18, of Michigan City, was charged with false reporting and ABC violation after lying about his age to deputies.

One juvenile was released to his parents for consuming alcohol.

Thirteen others were charged with ABC violation. From La Porte: Ryan McLennan, 19; Jonathan Lofberg, 18; Michael Baughman, 19; Kimber Jasinski, 19; Jacob Parker, 19. From New Carlisle: Eric Wolff, 20; Ryan Lassiter, 19; Rik Sabate, 18; Richard Carlson, 19; Jeremiah Fields, 19; Ryan Garoutte, 19; Matthew Levenhagen, 19. From Rolling Prairie: Kaleb Roberts, 19.
