"When I filled out the application for this I put my hand on it and prayed that we would get this," said Crystal Stupar, Michael's wife "and God answered our prayers and here we are and it's been an amazing adventure."

Out of a long list of candidates, the Stupar family was selected for a home Military Makeover with Montel Williams.

"I retired to have a huge honey-do list and my honey-do list went from about 100 different things to no things" said Army Veteran, Michael Stupar "so it is long over due that I can go home and have time to spend with the wife and the kids."

Michael Stupar retired in 2021 after spending 20 years in the Army as a military police officer

He was deployed four times to Iraq and Afghanistan.

"My deployment and some of the stuff I went through," said Michael Stupar "those are the dark times this is the light side this is the reverse side of that coin."

Crews had 12 days to transform the Stupar's home in Michigan City.

"The work has been completed because we've had some really incredible community partners from Patrick Industries " said 'Military Makeover with Montel' Host Montel Williams "stepped up and did a lot of the revision work that needed to be done."

"We've got so many veterans across our company today" said Patrick Industries CEO Andy Nemeth "it's just an honor for us to be able to give something back to them."

The crew says this makeover wouldn't be possible without help from the community.

"We literally got four to six month remodeling job done in two weeks" said 'Military Makeover with Montel' Host Art Edmonds "and it's all about the local volunteers and the local support we got around here."

"The outpour of the community and the veteran community it just fills my heart" said Michael Stupar "I mean being a veteran myself my brothers and sisters came to my aid just by knowing me from a story as I would do for them and that just shows the bond that you build in the military."

The Stupars tell us everything was transformed inside their home.

The segment will air August 12th on Lifetime.
