City by the Lake.org, The Voice of Michigan City, Indiana _ City at rest _ What's going on in the world?

Have you guys heard about what's going on in the middle east with our Embassys? This has me extremely upset. Especially what happened to the US Ambassador to Libya. What a terribly sad thing.

It scares me even more to think that this situation could spill over to our soil, and what the consequences of that might be.

The picture going around facebook just chills me to the core. The poor man's family.

Me too. It actually made me cry for him and his family. I could only look at it for a split second and had to turn away.

Has anyone actually seen the "movie" that's causing all this conflict? I heard on GMA yesterday that the actors claimed they were filmed in front of a green screen and that after the production, their voices were dubbed with different dialog.
Heard this morning that the director/producer is an Egyptian Christian and has barricaded himself in his home because he fears for his life.

I have no interest in watching hateful propaganda.

Well neither do I, but that's the problem. I don't know of anyone who has actually seen it. I'm sure it's out there somewhere, but beating up our embassies over this seems a little extreme. Makes me wonder if that is really the issue......

Came across this news item that says these attacks had to be planned because they were too well organized to be a spur of the moment incident related to anger over a video....

The movie, called "Innocence of Muslims," is a real joke from a production standpoint. You can check out the movie on YouTube.

France is evacuating and closing their embassies in the middle east over some anti-muslim political cartoon in a French magazine. You'd think that they would take a lesson from us and not print that kind of garbage...

IMO that is the worst possible reaction. We have freedoms in this country. To surrender those freedoms voluntarily is wrong. People died to give us those rights. People will die to maintain those rights.

I realize that, but after a video from America and the attacks on our embassies, you would think that other countries would say, "Oh! Look at how the Muslims are reacting toward Americans over their freedom of speech. We don't want that to happen to us, so maybe we'll just be quiet for a bit while this blows over." But to print that so soon after our dilemma, people are just looking for trouble.

When you have a snarling dog in your face, do you poke it with a stick? No..... You slowly back up and try to get out of the way.
Not saying Muslims are snarling dogs, just making an analogy.

I don't believe in letting extremists dictate policy. Heck you know me, I love to poke snarling dogs.

I don't say this often, but good for the French.

If those folks hate us so much, they should *immediately* stop accepting all that filthy foreign aid $$ from us. I'll bet we could put it to good use over here helping those who are (truly!) in need. Maybe even floating some to a few worthy organizations in a certain City By The Lake. . . . . .
