Local Woman Reported Missing

Laurie Wink
The News-Dispatch

MICHIGAN CITY -Police are looking for a woman reported missing by her employer this week.

Kelli Howard, 39, of the 2300 block of Normandy Drive, was reported missing after authorities were contacted by her supervisor at The Arbors, 1101 E. Coolspring Ave., on Monday.

Shelley Campbell told police it was unlike Howard to fail to show up for work for three days, and requested they look for her.

Police went to Howard's apartment and, after getting no answer, had maintenance let them in.

According to police reports, no one was in the apartment and it was not in disarray. A vehicle registered to Howard was in the parking lot.

Police checked again at 1 p.m. and got the same results. Campbell reportedly told police a female called The Arbors on Friday and said Howard wouldn't be at work for two days because she'd been in an accident. Police didn't find a record of a patient named Kelli Howard admitted to St. Anthony Memorial.

Howard is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with blond hair and green eyes. She is reported to have a boyfriend named TJ.

City Woman Remains Missing

Laurie Wink
The News-Dispatch

MICHIGAN CITY - A 39-year-old Michigan City woman missing since Friday remains unfound, leaving family and friends perplexed and concerned.

Kelli Howard, 2307 Normandy Drive, Apart-ment 1B, was reported missing Monday by Shelley Campbell, a supervisor at The Arbors of Michigan City, 1101 E. Coolspring Ave., where Howard works as a nurse.

Howard was supposed to work during the weekend and, according to Campbell, normally would call in if she wasn't able to work. After she failed to show up for three days, Campbell called police.

"It's not uncommon for Kelli to take trips to Texas or Ohio," Campbell said. "Kelli is not the type of person who would not call off. She knows she has to call her unit manager."

The last employee of The Arbors who failed to show up for work or call in was Angela Metheny, whose ex-husband, Keith Metheny, murdered her, then committed suicide in April 2007.

According to Camp-bell, a female caller contacted the person on the desk at The Arbors on Friday and said Howard had an accident and wouldn't be in to work for two days. Police checked area hospitals and didn't find an admissions record under Kelli Howard's name.

Police checked Howard's apartment twice Monday and found no signs of foul play. According to Campbell, Howard's mother went to the apartment and didn't feel her daughter packed to go on a trip.

Initial reports listed she had a boyfriend named T.J. However, her son's name is T.J., and he recently was arrested on a warrant. A friend said Howard turned him in to police.

Howard is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with blond hair and green eyes.

Are you kidding? They haven't even updated us on the SB woman who killed herself by jumping off the back of the lighthouse. Remember that one? They never followed up with who she was, or why she might have done what she did. Not only that, but how about the cop who tried to save her but couldn't?

So, no, there's been no follow up on that story.

Typical.
