MCAS will continue to have three days a week of e-learning until Wed May 13, 2020, which will be the last day of the 2019-2020 school year. The rest of the school year will fall under the 20 day waiver program offered by the State of Indiana through Governor Holcomb.

FULL STATEMENT BELOW:

Dear MCAS Families:

Welcome back from Spring Break! We now have some additional information to share regarding the conclusion of our 2019-2020 school year.

Beginning this week, MCAS will continue with three days of eLearning each week until our final day for all students, which will be Wednesday, May 13. eLearning will take place Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, and we will use waiver days on Thursdays and Fridays.

The teachers’ last day will be Wednesday, May 27. Up until that day, they will be available to support students and will be working on finalizing grades. All student eLearning work will be accepted through May 20.

The complete schedule is available HERE.

A few things to note:

Seniors have the same schedule as all other students. They, too, will complete the school year on May 13. Seniors and their families will be receiving a survey and additional information regarding commencement and other end-of-year special events.

Schools will be sharing additional information about grading policies for the grading period.
Report cards will still be issued with letter grades for all students. Report cards will not be mailed, but will be available for viewing on Parent Access in early June.

We know that many are anxious to retrieve personal items left in buildings. We will also need to collect textbooks. When state and local stay-at-home orders are lifted, we will communicate the logistics of how this will work for each building.

School meal pickups will continue at Barker, Krueger, Knapp, and Elston each Monday from 4-6 pm, through May. Neighborhood drop-offs in those areas previously served will also continue on Mondays. (We will announce a June-August summer meal schedule at a later date.)
Summer school will be held in some form, and we will be announcing plans for that as soon as those are finalized.

At this time, there are no changes to our planned start for the 2020-21 school year. The first day for all students will be Wednesday, August 12. (The first day for teachers is Monday, August 10.)

We are sad to be concluding our school year virtually, but we know this is essential to keep our students, staff, and community safe.

Thank you for your continued patience and support!
