The Michigan City Wolves are going to be incredibly well represented as State Finals for Track and Field this year. The boys side City has an outside chance at a State title, but a real chance at a top 5 finish, which would be their best ever.

On the women's side, Jasmine McLemore is going down state for the 4th year in a row in the 400, taking with her the MCHS school record in the 400 meters, along with 5 sectional championships and 1 regional championship. She holds the current school record in the 400 meters at 56.3 seconds, and trails only Elston grad Omeiga Keys who holds the all time MIchigan City record of 55.8 from her state championship year. Also represented is the 4X100 meter team of Jasmine McLemore, Asia McLemore, Alexis Mussa, and Alex Pomeroy.

On the men's side, City is sending 4 Regional champions who won 4 different events on the way to the state finals.

Mikayah Smallwood won Regionals in the 110 meter high hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles. He holds the best time in the state in the 110's and one of the top times in the 300's. He is also the state's top seed in both races. Smallwood also went to state finals last year.

In the high jump Daniel Armstrong returns after placing 5th in state last year, and holding the highest jump in the state this year at a Michigan City all time record of 7 feet tall. Armstrong finished second at Regionals to teammate ShanQuan Hemphill who cleared a high of 6 foot 10 inches this year. Hemphill cleared 6'8" at Regionals to win the championship in that event, and to make another trip down state.

Another Regional champion that City is sending to state finals is Matt Lockridge who smoked a 10.69 100 meter dash winning Regionals and running the 3rd fasted time in the state of Indiana this year. Lockridge also went to state finals last year in the 100.

Jacob Adams won the 800 meter race at the Valpo Regionals at a time of 1:55.84 to give City their 5th Regional title this year.

Cevin Crawford jumped 21 feet 5.5 inches at Regionals to finish 5th and get an automatic bid to state finals.

Good luck to all of the City kids downstate, and let's hang some banners! Let's get some shares of this post going around to show them some support as they compete to win at Bloomington.
