Just wanted to throw out this reminder of the T.E.A. (Taxed Enough Already) Party being held this Saturday, Oct 17th from 11:00am to 2:00pm on the lawn of the LaPorte County Courthouse in LaPorte.
This non-partisan event has been organized to protest government waste, excessive taxation and the socialization of private companies using our tax dollars. Government is growing at an astounding rate and instead of focusing on balancing a budget, our government leaders promote program after program that threatens to spend more money than there is to spend. It is time to let these government leaders know that collectively we plan to hold them responsible on Election Day. This LaPorte County T.E.A.(Taxed Enough Already) Party is being promoted as our United S.T.A.N.D. (Stop Taxing & Amassing National Debt). If you are tired of the way your elected officials are handling your money, please come out to this event. Everyone, regardless of party affiliation or political standing is welcome to attend. Bring your families, your neighbors and your friends. Everyone should also feel free to bring their own signs. Anyone wanting to speak at this event will be allowed to do so. Let those elected officials know that from now on you will be supporting only those candidates who represent your values. Anyone wanting more information on this event can contact Keith Harris at (219)878-9780 or by email at kharris1010@yahoo.com. |

I was under the impression that we just did hold our government leaders responsible. We just had a changing of the guard so to speak in January. I agree it looks like a lot of spending is going on now, I aslo understand the circumstances have been a bit on the extrordanary side. I also feel we are a whole lot better off now then we were 10 months ago. I am willing to give this group more than the couple of months the TEA-BAGGERS were willing. |

There is an interesting article on the Tea Party movement in this morning's Wall Street Journal: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1255649762...WhatsNewsSecond An example of how far government has gotten out of control just happened in Illinois where the legislature has passed another social program with no funding while the state is technically bankrupt. Unless taxpayers can take back control, our form of government will eventually collapse in the manner of every republic since the ancient Greeks. This is not a matter of one political party versus another. |

Could you share more about this program? From an Illinois news service: >>Quinn Administration: MAP Money To Be Determined (Springfield, IL) -- After weeks of complaints from college students, their parents, and their schools, Illinois lawmakers say they've found 200-million dollars for another semester of state grants. But Governor Pat Quinn says no one knows where the money will really come from. Quinn says he will write the checks for the MAP grant program, and then try and find the cash to pay for them. Southern Illinois University student Krista McDermmmit says that's good enough for her. She believes Quinn and lawmakers will eventually find the MAP money. But Republican State Representative Dan Brady isn't so sure. He says Illinois has a bad track record of paying its bills on time, and isn't sure there is enough money for MAP. |

Best thing to happen for the Democratic Party since Teddy Roosevelt's Bull Moose party. Keep it up, guys! |

Calling college education "ANOTHER SOCIAL PROGRAM" is pretty good, I like it. You may want to check the lifetime of earnings and the poential return (taxable income) on the investment of a college degree vs. a lifetime of earning without it. God bless Illinois for investing so wisely in such a valuable asset. Their children. |

God bless Illinois for investing so wisely in such a valuable asset. Their children. All social programs have some marginal value but not when you can't pay for them. Illinois is not investing. The governor admits he does not know where the money will be to pay the bill. I am well aware of the value of education but thanks for asking. However there is little earnings value in a B.S or B.A. .degree. That only comes into play in critical areas involving advanced degrees. A new study at a prominent school of business shows the present spending beyond means will slow the growth of the economy. Feel gooders can argue all they like, but there is no proof of their claims of increased value from spending beyond means. The opposite is true. "But we really need it" is an attempt to justify inadequate fiscal planning. That has to be halted or our republic will collapse. What you endorse is for the general population to pay the bills for the benefit of fewer persons. What right has any special interest group to pass its costs onto taxpayers who will eventually not only have to pay the bill but also the interest on borrowed capital to pay the cost? |

Ignoring the fact that for about 8 years we been fighting two unfunded wars. Not only have they been unfunded but for the first time in the history of the world, tax relief was given to the richest 2% of a nation (also unfunded). The United States of America, not learning from the finacial colapse of the former Soviet Union. A colapse largely caused by an unfunded long war in Afganistan. These two unfunded wars we are in and tax relief have a price tag. And it is not 60 billion dollar figure given by then White House Budget Director, Mitch Daniels. The price tag has more to do with the economy left for Obama. Then again raising taxes for an un-popular war based on faulty intellegance would have been a pretty hard sell. |

Please do not consider me a defender of any recent national administration. As I travel to the Washington D.C. area several times yearly, I am shocked at the outlook of persons there. Did I mention on this web site an article in the Washington Post a few years ago about how the Public Radio/TV facility there spent $32,000,000 for new facilities including a library justified by the top executive as necessary for members of Congress to do research to learn of issues "relevant to their constituents," the exact quote. Would one not reasonably think a member of Congress would gain such knowledge from those at home in his or her district? |

Increase the cap on Social Security wages to $250,000. Eliminate immediately all the "Estate" tax breaks. (Put them where Reagan had them). Break our agreements on NAFTA , CAFTA and any other anti American worker law. Enforce anti trust laws vigorously. Tax trades on the US stock exchange/Nasdaq at an 100th of a penny per trade. Give 5 year tax breaks that are HUGE on NEW small business payrolls. Public option ...Big insurance out of health care. We will be on our feet in months. |

If by "on our feet", you mean 15% unemployment, I think you are right. |
