Four days before the election? Interesting timing. As was the timing of the mayor's stepson's arrest.

And a four way race for mayor.

Considering who is currently the head of the Republican Party, I personally wouldn't vote for a Republican for dog catcher. But I do have to wonder when the last time a Republican actually had a credible shot at being elected mayor of Michigan City.

Of course, the Republican mayoral candidate might not really be a Republican, seeing as he appears to have run in a Democratic primary in 2018.

This election cycle has been something special. It is so similar to the Presidential landscape it is scary. We have now been embarrassed on a national stage. It is sad honestly.

It is interesting that the charges came four days before the election, but also interesting that 3 very respected police officers tendered a resignation based on a conversation. Something that caused these people to do what they did was surely something that merits investigation. Even if you come back later and say, I'm so sorry, one has to control their actions, especially when they are head of the City and leadership is expected. I also agree, what his son allegedly did would cause any parent to come unglued, but 'personal' has to be separated from work life, it just does. Tomorrow will be very interesting. MC has not had a Republican in a council seat either and we have a good chance of that happening tomorrow too. Good luck to all of the people running for office, it is a big commitment and I thank them for giving us choices. Now everyone remember to get out there and vote for the best candidates that will move out City forward. [With all of the debt we have amassed, we need leadership in every position.]
