If the charter school gets it, it might help the neighborhood as well. Vacant properties never look good.
Churches and schools should not be havens for creeps.

If the current location doesn't pan out, they should try the Chrysler dealership (the old one) on the corner of 11th and the Blvd. better location imho too, and less to tear down.

Happy to see the City now owns Eastport.
I hope the city can get the building demolished and the new police headquarters constructed ASAP. It took way too long for the city to gain ownership of the building from the school system. When Sheila Brillson was the mayor I don't recall the city going through so much red tape to acquire the former Garfield school property at 11th & Ohio St. where they built the new fire station, the only thing I remember about that is that building was being used as a halfway house program for released prisoners and they were forced to relocate. |
