September 21st, 2015 at approximately 10:12pm Michigan City Police Department received several calls of shots being fired in the 1000 block of Salem St.

Officers arrived to the scene and several people indicated that there were several shots fired in the area. At this same time the police department was alerted that several gunshot victims showed up at St. Anthony’s hospital.
Officers then learned that four people were sitting in a parked car in the 1000 block of Salem St. Another vehicle approached, shots rang out from the passing vehicle and it then fled the area. The parked vehicle was hit by the bullets fired. Of the four people inside the parked car three were hit by bullets, and the fourth subject was not injured. The injured victims were then driven to the hospital by private individuals.

The victims injured are:

Dontia Grant (18) and he suffered non-life threatening injuries by gunshot but was transferred to South Bend hospital.

Tatiana Rodriguez (21) suffered non-life threatening injuries by gunshot and she was treated and released.

Dahreaus Howard (24) suffered and gunshot wound and later died from the injuries at the hospital.
