(MPN) – The Michigan City, IN, Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a woman missing since early Sunday morning.

Twenty-nine year-old Candi Brown Morris was last seen shortly before 1:00am Sunday near Holliday Street and North Carroll Avenue in Michigan City. Her silver 2004 Pontiac Grand Am was later recovered by the MCPD in the parking lot of Three Sheets Bar and Grill on West Barker Avenue.

Candi did not show up for a probation appointment Monday morning, and her family subsequently reported her missing. One person has confirmed to MPN that the young wife and mother of three was wearing an ankle bracelet, and that police were able to track her location throughout the weekend. However, the battery in the tether is no longer active, and authorities are unable to determine her whereabouts. Candi is a receptionist for Auto Couture, on East Michigan Blvd., in Michigan City, and her friends and co-workers have been distributing her picture and information furiously on FaceBook since her disappearance over the weekend. Those close to her say she would not willingly leave behind her family, friends, job — and most of all — her three children; and her loved ones fear she is in grave danger.Christine Salzer, Founder of “Moms on a Mission,” runs a local volunteer organization for missing persons, and her team is assisting the family in their search for Candi. “Right now, we are working with Candi’s family to gather information, and provide supportive resources, as well as working to raise immediate community awareness,” Salzer told MPN. “Our focus right now is to ensure Candi’s family has every resource available – from distribution of fliers and posters to search efforts – that is available to every family with a missing person.”The Michigan City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance with any information which may lead them to Candi’s whereabouts. The over 400 “shares” of her picture on FaceBook thus far have already generated some new information, as one Michigan City resident saw her picture on the site and contacted MCPD with new details.

“Right now, the most important thing is to continue distributing Candi’s picture as much as possible,” Salzer told MPN. “We will be releasing more information about how the community can assist in search efforts in the upcoming days, but right now, awareness is key.”

A FaceBook page has been set up to distribute information and search details with the community.

Anyone with information as to Candi Brown Morris’ whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Jason Holaway at the Michigan City, IN, Police Department, at (219) 874-3221.

(MPN) – As volunteers prepare to conduct a full grid search tomorrow for Candi Sue Brown Morris, rumors are running rampant throughout the small tourist town of Michigan City, IN, as to the missing woman’s whereabouts.

In the last 48 hours, gossip has plagued the case surrounding missing 29-year-old wife and mother Candi Brown Morris, as word of a recent discovery spread throughout the town. MPN has confirmed the missing woman’s wallet, purse, and work cell phone were located in a dumpster behind Reilly’s Sports Bar (formerly Sullivan’s) on Franklin Street earlier this week. That discovery comes after a Michigan City resident saw the missing woman’s picture on FaceBook and called the MCPD with information about the wallet and other belongings. Additionally, Candi’s silver 2004 Pontiac Grand Am was located this week as well, in the parking lot of Three Sheets Bar and Grill on West Barker Avenue.

Additional rumors have surfaced in the last two days, about the alleged discovery of the missing woman’s body in dumpsters behind local bars. One source confirmed to MPN this evening that the Michigan City Police Department has denied any discovery of Candi’s body behind Reilly’s Bar and Grill or any other location. A separate rumor about the woman’s body being found in a dumpster behind Decoy’s Bar and Grill on Hwy. 20 in Michigan City is also unfounded. MPN spoke with Decoy’s co-owner Gordon “Don” Gardner, who confirmed all rumors about a discovery in his parking lot and/or dumpster are “completely false.” Gardner also stated, “We’ve heard conflicting reports about discoveries at Reilly’s earlier in the day, but we’ve also heard the rumors about our bar. I can confirm – 100% – that nothing has been found out here, and no police have been here to look for anything out of the ordinary.”Since Candi’s disappearance, speculation has overwhelmed the case, but that’s a welcome distraction for the missing woman’s family and friends. As searchers prepare to disperse throughout the small town known for it’s outdoor shopping mall, state prison, and “the casino”, several areas have piqued the searchers’ interests. One call to MPN yesterday immediately after our story was published generated a tip near the intersection of West Pahs Road and the Cleveland Road extension off U.S. Interstate Hwy. 20. A Michigan City resident reported seeing turkey buzzards near the intersection in a wooded area; after search teams scoured that section of land, it was determined a recent deer had been deceased on the property.

“That call, however, reminded us that the smallest of clues can warrant a search,” said Christine Salzer, Founder of LaPorte County’s missing persons’ organization, ‘Moms on a Mission’. “The family wants to hear everything related to a possible location, and if there’s nothing discovered, it means we can eliminate — or clear — the area, moving on to the next,” Salzer told MPN.

Although no suspect has been named as of yet, MPN can confirm two males close to the missing woman were requested to submit to polygraph examinations earlier today at the Michigan City Police Department. It has not yet been determined if the two men appeared for those exams.

Candi Sue Brown Morris is 5’4″ tall, weighing 130 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen at approximately 12:50am on Sunday morning, near Holliday Street and North Carroll Avenue in Michigan City.

Anyone who wishes to participate or volunteer with search efforts is asked to call the Candi Brown Morris search team coordinator at (219) 379-4091. Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Candi is asked to contact Detective Jason Holaway at (219) 874-3221.
