Here's the real deal on the violations at Sahara;
1st Critical-A bottle of windex was placed on a shelf next to styrofoam containers used for to go orders (please note-styrofoam containers are kept in bag until they are removed for use, windex bottle was misplaced. Cleaners have separate storage space on lowest shelf) 2nd Critical-Raw food was stored in a cooler on the bottom shelf. Prepared food was stored on a higher shelf in same cooler. (Do you keep your uncooked food in a separate fridge in your home?) 1st Non-critical- No self closer on restroom door. 2nd Non-critical- No covered waste basket in women's restroom 3rd Non-critical- Cooler where ice is stored is not equipped with a drain. (please note-this cooler is drained of any water and scoured twice daily. Most restaurants don't scour the drain equipped coolers this frequently if at all.) 4th Non-critical- Back door propped open for deliveries |

I think that this is a great illustration of why it would be good to see the whole report. The only thing about the food storage thing, restaurants are not home, and to be licensed you are supposed to follow the safe storage rules. The redeeming fact is that the raw food was not above the cooked stuff where it could drip into it.
By the way, Readers, I encourage everyone to go to the Souk and pick up something, and don't forget to get something new to you to try! The difference between genius and stupidity is that there are limits to genius. Albert Einstein

Everything at Sahara is stored in such a way(in containers, thoroughly wrapped, etc.) that nothing would be "dripping", thanks. The rules should be followed at all times, but the book of rules is vast and sometimes we humans forget. These were absent minded mistakes, easily corrected. There is nothing happening at Sahara that would pose a threat to health and safety. I encourage everyone to go to Sahara, then shop for your favorite items at miniSouk. Note: Get them while you can; Mama's Famous Meat Pies, Grape Leaves and Perfect Kibbeh are available for a limited time. Mama goes back to Lebanon soon. You will never have better Middle Eastern Cuisine! |

How much longer is Mama here? I need to come in (today!) and pick up some veg grape leaves... |

I need to come in (today!) and pick up some veg grape leaves... Her visit is winding down. Another month at most. She has to get back for the wedding of her other twin son. While I am sad, I am also a bit relieved. I have gained a considerable amount of weight! I need a meeting-Grape Leaves Anonymous. Does anyone know where I can find a Chapter? |

Mom: "Kids, Mr. Kaputnick will be your sitter tonight. We expect you to be on your best behavior." Kid 1: "Oh, boy! Can we play 'Catch the Grammar Mistakes' again? It's my favorite new game!" Dad: "I thought your new Wii was your favorite game?" Kid 2: "Not anymore! Mr. Kaputnick makes grammar fun!" Dad: "Alright, you little scamps. Have fun." Kid 3: "Daddy, what happened to Mr. Kaputnick's nose?" Dad: "Don't stare, sweetie. It's not polite." |

Strange, that may be the first time I've ever seen "grammar" and "fun" in the same sentence.

Dad: "That's all you get with 1 bag of concrete. Now run along and find those grammar errors. First one to find an out of place preposition gets an ice cream." All 4 Children: "YEAAAA!" Funny stuff! It was a pleasure meeting you last night at Sahara KRK. Magnolia and I were a little taken by our new found notoriety. Roger Kaputnik watch has officially begun. Where’s Roger? It would be nice if the Health Dept. reported what was the problem found in a bad report and the restaurant had some forum to 'splain itself.
