QUOTE Michigan City Redevelopment Commission Prepares U.S. EPA Cleanup Grant Proposals for Two Properties Mayor Chuck Oberlie announced that the Michigan City Redevelopment Commission is in the process of preparing proposals for the United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) Brownfields Clean up Grants for two environmentally impaired properties, Jernegan’s Hill and Lots 12 and 13, located on the Southside of East 8th Street (between East Michigan Boulevard and Walker Street) in Michigan City. Michigan City is seeking funds that will enable the City to continue to address the environmental issues associated with these properties. The maximum funding available is $200,000 for each property. Draft copies of the grant proposals and Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) can be reviewed at the City Hall Planning Department Office from November 7 through November 18, 2011. The public may comment on the proposals and ABCAs until the end of the business day on November 18, 2011. Information on the draft proposals and ABCAs will be presented and comments accepted during the November 14th Michigan City Redevelopment Commission’s monthly meeting held in the Common Council Chambers located in City Hall’s Lower Level at 5:00 p.m. The final proposals and ABCAs are to be submitted to the U.S. EPA by November 28, 2011.
