For us it was the 6th time in almost 3 years we have lost power for an extended period of time. I think someone needs to start investigating NIPSCO's infrastructure here in MC.

Thousands Lose Power During Storm
Sunday’s weather knocks out electricity across region.

MICHIGAN CITY - About 2,500 La Porte County customers of NIPSCO lost power Sunday at about noon.

Much of Michigan City's West Side, along with portions of La Porte and other areas of the county, were involved in the outage.

The area was experiencing high winds and a severe thunderstorm rolled through Sunday afternoon.

Crew members restored all power to the area by 6 p.m., according to NIPSCO.

Residents of Chicago's southern suburbs spent Sunday cleaning up.

The National Weather Service said a sprawling storm system generated six separate tornadoes in Chicago's south suburbs Saturday. Several injuries were reported.

Sunday evening, a lakeshore flood warning was alarmed on Lake Michigan in the Chicago-area as a drop in water levels indicated a seiche in progress.
