I worked at Pott Park for a couple of years when I was in high school, where he was a member. I was always impressed with how friendly and down to earth he was. He never acted like a "star". RIP Dennis.

Dennis Farina, a Chicago native and 18-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department turned actor, has died at 69 in Arizona, his publicist said today.

Farina, best known as detective Joe Fontana on the long-running TV series "Law & Order," suffered a blood clot in his lung, publicist Lori De Waal said.

I used to play golf with him at Pottawattomie Country Club. Really nice guy.
When our son Josh was in second grader he broke his arm on the playground.
At PCC, I introduced him to Dennis and told Josh he was a movie star and asked Josh if he wanted Dennis to sign his cast. Josh looked at him up and down and sarcastically said yeah right. Dennis guffawed and signed his cast "Yeah Right! Dennis Farina".
