We decided not to take the regional route this year, 100% City sports. I'm also hoping to get some kids from the school to come on and do a halftime show keeping us up to date on other school sports and general school announcements. Getting rid of the third party provider (while more expensive), really frees us up to do football the way we want to do it...here is the "official" press release:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WIMS Radio to Broadcast Entire Michigan City Wolves Football Schedule

The season begins with a live broadcast from Ames Field as the Wolves host Gary Roosevelt on August 22nd

The broadcasts will not only feature the action on the field, but incorporate MCAS news, information and events.

Michigan City, IN- July 31, 2008- Adam Parkhouse (of the Michigan City News Dispatch) will join Matt Werkema in broadcasting the entire football schedule of the Michigan City Wolves live on AM 1420 WIMS. The season begins with a broadcast starting at 6:30pm from Ames Field as the Wolves host Gary Roosevelt, and WIMS will cover the entire season including road games at South Bend, Chesterton, Merrillville and Portage.

The WIMS football broadcast will be produced and broadcast locally without the use of a third party. WIMS General Manager and morning personality Ric Federighi pointed out that "This gives us the opportunity to, not only create our own broadcast schedule, but also incorporate local news and information throughout the games." He added "Listener feedback showed that people wanted consistency with their Friday football broadcasts, so we decided to feature your local team on your local station AM 1420 WIMS."

Michigan City Athletic Director Robert "Bear" Falls and Director of Communications Betsy Kohn were instrumental in making Michigan City football available to listeners throughout the South Shore, and will provide local guests and information throughout the week and during game day broadcasts. WIMS radio also offers live streaming of the games at www.wimsradio.com so that friends and family of our local student athletes that have left the area can follow along all season long.

Far out! While I will not be eating at City Beefs on game night, I will be listening to WIMS while in the stands.

If nothing else, I am going to try to get up to see you guys during home coming. The wife is the senior class sponsor, so I am going to try to make it, kids willing.
