Has anyone been out on the catwalk (riverwalk?) that runs between the Blue Chip channel and Trail Creek? Is this public property? If so, are there hours during which you are not supposed to be out there? What's up with the quarter mile long chain link hallway? Why is there an unlocked gate at the entrance? Why are there gazebos but no picnic tables or benches? Was I trespassing?

Bump. So I am the only person on the board to have ventured there?

I haven't been there. I just looked on google earth at Trail Creek, but it doesn't look like the images have been updated for over a year (it looks like the first riverboat is on there). Would that be for access to all those boat docks along the eastern side of Trail Creek? I'd imagine the dock area would be controlled access (I know I'd want it to be controlled access if I had a boat over there!).

Yeah I have never been out there... At most we go to the boat once a year.

You walk down a long chain link hallway, with Blue Chip property on your right and the docks to your left and it dumps you out onto the long catwalk that extends between the creek and the boat channel. Someone else from the board needs to check this place out. Park your car either at Hanson Park or across the street from it, right at the north side of the E St. bridge. You will see the chain link and multiple gates. One has no locks on it and leads into a chainlink fence hallway. Open the gate walk on in and just keep going. You will get to see a part of Michigan City upclose that you probably haven't in 20 years. Put simply, mean reversion is a bitch. -Vitaliy Katsenelson

I go past it in my boat, I thought it was the riverwalk the mayor talks about.
