Political Notebook For Wednesday, March 31, 2010

MICHIGAN CITY — The Michigan City Tavern Association will present a free candidates night Thursday at St. Joseph’s Young Men’s Society.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m., with refreshments and food from 5 to 6 p.m. and the forum starting at 6.

Each candidate will have three minutes to speak. Those invited are running for sheriff, assessor, County Council District 2, County Council District 3, Michigan Township assessor, County Commission District 3 and prosecutor.

Due to the number of candidates, the association is asking only the ones Michigan City residents can vote for to speak, but all are invited.

The chair of each party, Democrat John Jones and Republican Keith Harris, will introduce the candidates.

Looks as though there was a "typo" in this article. County Commission District 1 candidates have been invited, not district 3.
