Michigan City's police department has a new four-legged member! On Sunday they posted the following to their Facebook page:

Introducing Michigan City Police Department's newest K-9 addition to the team, Apollo Parry. Apollo will specialize in sniffing out Explosives (bombs & guns) and general patrol (suspect take-downs).

Apollo's handler is Officer Greg Radiger who has experience in Safe Streets Team (SST) and Street Crimes Unit (SCU).

Mrs. Parry, widow of Mr. Dave Parry is a total sweetheart. Out of the blue she called her friend and neighbor, MCPD Sgt. Chris Yagelski. Mrs. Parry said she had learned the city needed a replacement K-9 and said she would like to buy one for them. Chris advised her they are pretty salty and could be in the $10,000 range or more. Mrs. Parry didn't flinch. Chris ran it by the brass and learned the cost would be at least $11, 500. He told Mrs. Parry about the cost and she said come and get the check. The Parry's are a wonderful family.

Nope... That was Harvey Krentz's bakery @ Park 'n Shop.

I don't think Dave Parry ever baked a loaf of bread or long john in his life.
