This is a joke and disgusting, yes there were mistakes made so be it . It doesn't change the fact that he shot her twice. I have faith that karma will get the best of him and he will be judged by a higher power. Rest assured Stacey will not be forgotten by her family and friend.

This is a sad ending to a sad experience.

The world is broken and some answers can only be fetched in Heaven.

A few thoughts:
  • Long Beach's number one expense year-in and year-out is "security". Let's hope that the "security" team has been retrained and understands the importance of any arrest.
  • There is a new County Prosecutor who really isn't that new. Let's hope that the County Prosecutor's team has been trained to understand their jobs, and act in a way that is 100% lawful.
  • Mr. Larkin needs to repent. To repent simply means to change your mind. Reaching out to Stacey's family and friends to ask for forgiveness and repair all family relationships with humility and empathy is the start.
  • Mr. Larkin needs to dedicate his life to others - forever. Not just to the families, but to the entire community and the community of victims who have suffered violent trauma and loss. Mr. Larkin has been given a second chance at great cost. This second chance must be used for good and lasting life at the cost of his life (in terms of comfort, wealth, and self-deprivation of any kind).
  • The community needs to have empathy for both families - EQUALLY. Taking sides in any trauma is wrong. The community must repent by coming to a new understanding of empathy for everyone involved - the families, friends, neighbors and government.
  • Stacey's family needs to forgive Mr. Larkin.
Romans 13 spells out how government is supposed to mete out justice. It has in this case - right or wrong - it has fulfilled its duty. Justice that mankind performs is inherently flawed and can't be perfect. The court of public opinion may be presented in future - let's hope it is more healing than hurtful.

If you're read this far, let me remind you: God also metes out justice to those who sin without conscience and absent reconciliation via moral obligation. In eastern religions, this is known as the "yin yang" - or moral balance. God's justice comes but it can be something for good and not suffering - depending on the players' collective behavior in repentance. Godspeed to all.
