Dear MCAS Families: Today, the State of Indiana announced that LaPorte County is remaining in a RED status for COVID-19 spread. As a result, Michigan City Area Schools will continue remote learning for all students through Friday, January 29. Please note that all schools will be closed on Monday, January 18 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday. FOOD SERVICE INFORMATION Food Service will continue to provide a weekly supply of meals for all students. These meals should be ordered at http://educateMC.net/foodorder by noon each Wednesday for pickup at schools the following week. (Bus deliveries of meals to areas previously served will also continue.) Upcoming meal pickup dates: Tuesday, January 19, 4-5:30pm (Instead of Monday, due to the MLK Day holiday) Monday, January 25, 4-5:30pm We are hopeful that we can return for in-person instruction or a hybrid schedule by the week of February 1. We will inform you of our operations decision for that week no later than January 27. We will continue to base our decisions about operations based on our Reopening Plan and the level of COVID-19 spread in LaPorte County. Thank you for your continued support as we work to keep our students, staff, and community safe and healthy. Sincerely, Barbara Eason-Watkins Superintendent |
