http://thenewsdispatch.com/main.asp?Sectio...amp;TM=60901.93 I'm not going to quote it, it's just a propaganda piece as to how great it is going to be, now that the N-D has partnered up with WNDU to bring up-to-the-minute blah blah blah. The online N-D weather page is now essentially a hyperlink to Accu-weather. The print version I saw today looks like a few reprinted screen captures from the WNDU channel 16 website. Poor resolution, little information, and not really focused on Michigan City. No water temps, though it may be a bit early in the season for that, but no sunrise/sunset info, or much of anything really. Are the folks at the N-D thinking that all they need to do to publish a newspaper is print up some web pages? If that's the case, they should save a few trees and go to a strictly online system. |

I wonder if the almanac information (month to date rainfall/snowfall) is really for Michigan City or if they are using stats from South Bend.

I do know if I'm looking for weather info online, I'm not looking at some website for South Bend. Weather Underground is much more local. Heck, they have a weather station at the Beecher offices at 10th and Franklin, which is all of four blocks away from me. |

FWIW, the weather page is topic is the NDs poll of the day, and people so far have voted 89% to 11% that they like it.

That question is misleading -- people who are voting yes are probably voting for the online weather page, which very well could be better than it used to be. I just think the new version in the newspaper sucks. Badly. |
