I am an ex Long Beacher. I went to Long Beach School and graduated from Elston in the mid 70's. While Long Beach may have been an upper "upper class" part of MC, It was nothing like what the FIP's are doing now. There were nice homes but no Mc-Mansions to speak of. No one would think to tear down an older home to put up a monstrosity. They did that to the first house I ever lived in at Stop 17.

When I lived there and was in school there, our teachers lived in that community, so did the principal, so did other people who were not rich. One of my best friend's dad was a truck driver. Many worked in the Mill's in the lower management areas as shop floor supervisors. What the new Beach residents are attempting to do is to change the very nature of Long Beach from what it once was to an enclave of the rich, who own second homes on the lake and claim the very Beach for themselves.

Since 1927 Long Beach has maintained that all resident's those who lived "back in", or those who lived on the Beach had access to the Beach. In actuality, the Beach is open to all. It's parking and access that are somewhat restricted.

I hope the community stays as it always has, and residents are allowed free access to the lake and Beach.

Here endith the ranting.
