I heard a couple of head coaches decided to leave MCHS over the summer. With no official AD, no story in the News-Dispatch can anyone confirm?

I had not heard of any. What teams, or coaches?

I had not heard of any. What teams, or coaches? Besides the rumors that were on this board of a new basketball coach. I know the swim coach retired and has yet to be filled. I also heard the boys track and field was open and now the boys baseball was open as well. Like I said hard to verify with no AD and the N-D doesn't seem to have this scoop if it is true. |

Basketball is returning. Didn't hear about the other two as of yet. |

I know there was talk about changes in City this summer, I ran into one of the coaches the other night and wanted to give an update.
The full Michigan City coaching staff is back, as is everyone of significance in the program who wasn't graduating in 2014. For those who are curious. The coaching staff has also gotten both a travel/club team at the youth level put together (NWI Fusion), and they are also launching a community basketball league for grades 3-8 in attempt to resurrect an independent (non-school affiliated) youth league. |

From what I read today the girls X-C will have a new coach if they have enough runners to field a team.

I heard a couple of head coaches decided to leave MCHS over the summer. With no official AD, no story in the News-Dispatch can anyone confirm? It has not been officially released but David Ortiz has stepped down as the head baseball coach. From what I hear, Josh Malone the JV baseball coach will take over as head coach. |

David was a great athlete for Portage and for the St. Joe Pumas back in his playing days but after the Wolves bowed out 20-0 to Crown Point in the sectional opener last spring it is perhaps a good time to make a change. |
