Boys looked really good last night. I like the three point shooting guard threat the team has this season with Stewart and Pawloski.

My mom even came along with me to South Bend. She really likes coach Boyd.

Here is the details on the MLK Classic in Chicago next month:

Saturday Jan. 17 VS. Chicago Curie (Ill.) 6:30 pm @ Whitney Young High School

Chicago Bulls will also be hosting the Atlanta Hawks at the same time on that night just a few blocks away at the United Center so it will be a big night for basketball on Chicago's westside,

City wins a wild one tonight 72-65. 50 fouls called, including one technical, plus two more easily missed T's. The officiating was awful, both ways. Saw a phantom foul called, a kicked ball with only hands around, etc.

On the bright side, City used two new starters, and had big results with one. By far their best game of the year in a physical battle. I think a couple of guys turned a corner tonight, led by new starter Cevin Crawford who had 16 points and 14 rebounds, including 6 offensive.

Safe travels and a big #Citypride to the MCHS boys basketball team who travels up to Detroit today to participate in the hugely popular and even more competitive Motor City Roundball Classic.

This is a five day long invitation only, basketball marathon that brings some of the best teams in the US to play hoops. City is on the docket to play tonight at 6:20pm central time against Ypsilanti Michigan (7:20 Detroit time) though usually tournaments like this run late.

For those looking for MCHS basketball updates on twitter tonight, check here @MCRoundball

GO CITY!

#11 Penn 68 City 60

City had a very good chance to win this game. The benched played very well in this game and was the reason this game was a close one. City trailed by only 3 points going into the 4th, and was all due to the bench coming in and getting the job done. However, Boyd places the starters back in at the beginning of the 4th to then create a larger deficit. You have two shooters who are hot, Stewart and Pawloski, and you put your son and Jones back in so they can foul players 25 feet from the basket. The bench eventually came back during the middle of the 4th and closed the gap, but when they trailed by only 3 points Boyd's son is out there taking an ill advised shot, after he didn't hit the rim on his last 2 attempts.

Scratch that, City vs CP is cancelled, both for the varsity boys/girls DH, but also for JV on Saturday.

Looking forward to the boys being back at home VS. Valpo Friday night and taking my trip to Chicago on Saturday.

Wish the game Saturday would have been a few hours earlier so we could have gone to the Hawks - Bulls MLK game that night too.

The Wolves beat Munster last night 71-56. Great Win. The Wolves shot much better and had a great game from Hemphill who had a major one handed slam. The Wolves will host the Slicers on Friday in Game 2 of a boys/girls doubleheader.

City blew open a 3 point lead and turned it into a 15 point win.

Here is the dunk BTW
