Chesteron's football coach is stepping down to become an assistant at Valpo U. Between that and a lot of gradutations, that will be a team on the way down next year.

QUOTE Peterson to be recommended as Chesterton football coach 9 hours ago • Jim Peters jim.peters@nwi.com, (219) 548-4363 The Times has learned that Mark Peterson is expected to be named the head football coach at Chesterton. Athletic Director Garry Nallenweg confirmed Wednesday that Peterson will be recommended for approval by the Duneland School Corporation Board of Trustees at its June 24 meeting. Peterson has served as an assistant coach to John Snyder since his departure from Portage, where he served as head coach from 2007 to 2009. He went 17-15 in three seasons with the Indians after compiling an 18-15 record in three seasons (2004-2006) at Bishop Noll. Snyder resigned recently after 12 seasons to become an assistant coach at Valparaiso University. "The assistant coaches have done an admirable job in coming in and keeping everything moving forward," Nallenweg said. "We certainly appreciate the efforts of the entire staff in keeping everything going as normal." |
