For those who do not know, it is on HWY 12, right outside of Beverly Shore, and next to the entrance for the campgrounds for the Indiana State Park in BS. It was formerly known as Bruno's, but has been closed for years.

Ok, I got ya. I noticed a few signs on 12 a few weeks ago, but forgot all about it. Is it exclusively a bar or restaurant/bar?

It's owned by two friends of mine but I'm trying to be as objective as possible. Gary Sanders owns Miller Bakery Cafe over in Miller Beach and his wife, Nicole Bisonette has Bistro 157 in Valpo. They already have two of the best restaurants in the calumet region and tackled this project about a year ago after moving to Beverly Shores.
If you had ever been in Bruno's before, you won't recognize the inside with the exception of the really cool, old school, cylindrical beer fridge. The restaurant has seating for about 60 people and the bar can seat about fifteen or twenty. Gary and Nicole put a ton of work and time making the feel of the place very homey and inviting but still maintaining a feel that sets itself apart from anything else in the area. The food is basically very creative upscale roadhouse type food. The pricing ranges from a $9 killer burger to a $22 rib-eye. Most of the prices are in the $15 dollar range. They have a fully stocked bar and a nice wine list with most bottles in the $25 range. It's sure to be a hit. They're open from 11 noon for lunch until whenever after dinner service. I'm not sure what day they're closed. This place is sure to be a hit and is a GREAT alternative to anything else in the area. Tell them you read about them on CITYBYTHELAKE! |

For a soft opening they knocked the ball OUTTA THE PARK! I have no doubt they'll maintain the same standards of high quality as their other restaurants and it will only continue to get better. Everyone I spoke to really loved the ambiance and more importantly, the food.

Hmmm....
Looks like a good place for a meet & greet... The banquet style seating would be perfect, and the menu does look yummy. Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind~Dr. Suess

Now I have even more questions. what kind of questions do you have Roger? I can probably field some of them until you get to meet Gary and Nicole. I've been waiting for this place to open for sometime. They initially wanted to open this past summer but the state made them go through all sorts of hoops for the septic system. In the end, they had to spend a small fortune to build a septic behind the building which included buying more property, clearing woods and using about 1.5 acres! Kinda nutty but hey, they've arrived! This would be a GREAT place for a meet and greet. |

Has anyone been? They've been rocking, packing them in every night. Right now the weak link in the chain is parking so you need to get creative every now and then. They're going to fix the parking once spring rolls around. The food has all been really good. I know they've been super busy. I was in there one night and they did 220 covers for dinner service! Not too shabby for a place that sits 65 including the bar!
They have a bare bones website up now. There is also talk of a Sunday brunch. http://www.eatatbartletts.com/ |

Is it named for Bartlett's Real Estate and the guy who started Beverly Shores?
