IHSAA released its football reclassification for the next two seasons.

Looks like Michigan City will be playing in the new class 5A sectional 9 along with Munster, La Porte and most likely South Bend Adams.

Michigan City High School with an enrollment of 1802 in grade 9 through 12 now has now fallen behind La Porte as the school with the lowest student population in the Duneland conferance.

Interesting that Chesterton will be moving up to 6A along with Lake Central, Crown Point, Portage, Merrillville and Valparaiso.

It looks like a bit of good news but sectionals are still to be determined. I thought I heard where the IHSAA was still thinking about having an 8 team sectional but eliminating the semi-state in 5A & 6A, If that is the case MC could be in a sectional with LaPorte, Munster, Mishawaka, SB Adams, Elkhart Memorial, Elkhart Central, and Goshen? Still, a lot better chance to win a game as opposed to Sectional 1.

Class 6A & 5A will have 32 teams each. Each class will be dividied into 8 sectionals with each sectional consisting of 4 teams. Sectional assignments will be released at the end of April.

Class 5A is going to carry 34 teams which means there is a possibility that sectional 9 could consist of five teams with Michigan City, Munster, Mishawaka, La Porte and South Bend Adams.

It would make more sense if Sectional 9 was Munster, MC, LP, SB Adams

South Bend Sectional Mish, Elk Mem, Elk Central, Goshen, Concord.

But we are dealing with the ISHAA... We could play in the Bloomington Sectionals...

So LP and MC are the only 5A schools in the DAC. The rest are 6A.

La Porte was only 44 students shy of moving up to 6A for football as well.

IHSAA has released it's sectional groupings for football for the 2013 & 2014 seasons. Michigan City will compete in class 5A sectional 9 along with four other teams:

Michigan City
Munster
La Porte
South Bend Adams
Mishawaka

City should be capable of perhaps pulling off a sectional win over Munster, La Porte or Adams but as soon the Wolves face defending 4A state runner-up Mishawaka the season will most likely come to an end.
