I stopped in a watched most of the Varsity game, too many errors and Malone taking pitcher too deep into the game. They have good potential if he would use his resources as a coach better. They definitely needs closer, bringing in someone who isn't a pitcher to close out the game is goofy! I'm glad I don't have kids in this program anymore!

I saw most of the game today too and you have to go deep with your pitcher when you are playing your third game in a row. Most good teams in the DAC have 2-3 pitchers that they use. You can't blame Malone when he is missing three players I am sure he was expecting to contribute. Errors are common in HS baseball too. They had just as many last year but they were listed as hits by the newspaper writer or whoever was giving him the stats. One or two good pitchers who strike hitters out are the key. You can't give 5 outs in an inning or you are going to have trouble.

I heard Malone played at Chesterton under Campbell so I am sure he will do a fine job in the long run. A coach who wants to be there and put in the time will eventually find success. That should be a breathe of fresh air for the baseball program.

Agreed! Malone did play under Campbell at Chesterton and I'm sure he will be fine as a Coach. I've had kids in the MC program the last few years so I'm well versed at how things work at this level. Time will tell!

The reason they have to take pitchers deep into the game because they don't have any pitching. They have two solid pitchers and beyond that is hit or miss, depending on the day. Errors definitely don't help the cause, but remember that they are playing in the DAC. One of the top conferences in the state. If they cut down on errors and hit with runners in scoring position a lot of ball games could of been different outcomes.
