QUOTE The Cutest, Indeed First-place winner: Asia Nicole Turner. Photo by Bob Wellinski Meet Asia, the winner of The N-D’s baby contest By Deborah Sederberg Staff Writer Published: Monday, February 7, 2011 5:07 PM CST MICHIGAN CITY — Her smiles comes naturally, says the mom of the Cutest Little Baby Contest. Asia Nicole Turner, daughter of Dalisha McCray and Anthony Turner, Michigan City, is a happy little girl who loves life, her mom says. Marilyn Fagg, wife of pediatric dentist Dr. Rhett Fagg, Holly Schoof, marketing manager for Horizon Bank, and Sheryl Werner of La Porte County Right to Life served as judges for the contest sponsored by The News-Dispatch. In her mom’s opinion, Asia’s best features are her big eyes and high cheekbones. Born April 23, 2010, Asia has a brother, Terrance, 3, and a half-brother, Jaylen, 1. Jaylen lives with his mother, but when he is with Asia, the two babies are interested in each other, McCray says. “But Asia and Terrance are getting to be big buddies,” McCray added. McCray believes her beautiful baby most resembles her dad. “Other people in the family say the same thing,” she noted. “Yeah, she’s her daddy’s girl.” She’s a good eater, Mom says about Asia. “She wants everything she sees on your plate, but of course, we don’t give her everything.” As for beverages, she naturally loves milk, but every once in a while, she likes a sip of Hi-C. Asia’s musical preferences run to R&B and rap. “And she likes her nursery rhymes,” McCray says. Nursery rhymes have one advantage over other music, Mom says: “They sometimes put her to sleep.” It was a feminine sweep for this year’s Cutest Little Baby Contest. Avery Joan Barber, daughter of Tricia and Jordan Barber, Indianapolis, took second place, and McKenzie Sue Schumacher, great-granddaughter of Stan and Lisa Knoll, Michigan City, took third. Lighter, be nice.
While it may not be "news", it qualifies as a personal interest piece, IMHO. |
