I was thinking today...I bet if we had Obama for Mayor, he would be talking to us directly....I think the Mayor should chime in here since we are a good site for M.C. Maybe a blog or something. Lay it out there for people to comment on. I mean Obama is progressive...why not the big fish in the small pond here?

He is more than welcome to post here anytime he likes. My big philosophy is that we are open to all sides and opinions. We might not agree on agree on everything, but the explanation of opinion is valued here. I did request an interview during the 2007 Mayoral election cycle and never got a reply yes or no.

Too bad SS. I would think any vehicle available would be an asset when getting news out or building a consensus. Maybe he'll reconsider down the road...maybe before the next election?

Doubtful. Mayor Oberlie has been invited to provide info here at CBTL several times and has declined to do so.

He did provide the text of his State of the City address to us very quickly this year when requested. Maybe things are changing? Who knows. If there is an interest here in talking to him, I can try again. |

If there is an interest here in talking to him, I can try again. That's public information. It's no problem to provide that. But he balks at providing real information straight from him, Q&A type dialog. I think that's what Homey is after. Maybe we could do a poll and see what the people want? Actually I do try to be available. I am on both radio stations, ALCO and host resident coffees. In addition we have a city web site. Your dialogue is more lively, but all our departments, including my office, receive suggestions and comments via email.

Welcome Mayor Oberlie!
Thanks for joining the site and we do appreciate it. I hope that you will try your best to provide information here. We all understand that you are busy and can't spend your time hanging out online, but any little input you can provide to us would be outstanding. Even if only to clear up issues of confusion would be appreciated. Again, thanks for joining and Welcome to the City By The Lake! I would like to also echo the "welcome aboard" post. I will take the "lively" discussion as a complement, and a tribute to the people who post here so passionately. Please feel free to contribute where ever you would like to, and bring your unique perspective on events to the board.
