Just found this buried in another article, it would be interesting to hear a statement from the mayor about his support and reasoning.

INDIANAPOLIS | A pair of Northwest Indiana legislators and one mayor have joined the ranks of region Democrats choosing sides between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

The Democratic presidential contenders, who are competing for the 72 pledged delegates at stake in Indiana's May 6 primary, announced the new endorsements Thursday in dueling news releases.

State Rep. Dan Stevenson, D-Highland, and Greg Simms, D-Portage, signed on the Clinton camp, pushing the New York senator one legislative endorsement ahead of Obama.

Clinton now has the support of 26 of the 68 Democrats in the Indiana General Assembly. And she also announced endorsements Thursday from five downstate mayors.

Meanwhile, Obama, the junior senator from Illinois, announced a baker's dozen of endorsements from Hoosier mayors. Michigan City Mayor Chuck Oberlie is the latest region official to join the Obama camp.
