I just wanted to say I think "City By The Lake" is a pretty great name. It's lovely and evocative of what Michigan City is. Nicely named, person who named it.

I'm pretty sure it comes from the old MC theme song - There's a city by the lake that is really kinda great - Michigan City, Indiana Well - that's the first part anyhoo. |

I'll get the lyrics when I talk to my dad today. Or if you know him well enough to call him I'm sure he'd sing it for you. That song is imprinted in his DNA. There's a city by the lake That is bright and wide awake! Michigan City, Indiana! You can travel up and down And not find a better town Than Michigan City, Indiana! Michigan City Hurrah, folks, hurray! Strong in December And full of pep in May And the water's always fine In the good old summertime In Michigan City, Indiana! |

Does anyone remember "Michigan City Indiana Howdie Do" by Johnny Cash?
Stew McDonnell used to play it frequently on WIMS in the late 1970's and early 1980's. There are a couple of Youtube videos with this piece. I also remember the other song played frequently as well, but cannot find it online anywhere. |

I own the album, but you can also find the song at You Tube in several videos. I purchased the album (still in its original wrapping) online.
