Give A Name To Wall of Fame
MCAS honors those individuals in system who helped influence students, community.

MICHIGAN CITY - Most people know someone who encouraged them, who coached them, who believed in them when they didn't believe in themselves.

In schools, many teachers provide that kind of support.

But bus drivers, administrators, custodians, instructional assistants, secretaries, food service personnel, guidance counselors and others in a student's school life has an opportunity to offer encouragement.

School officials are searching for those who have made outstanding contributions to the students of the Michigan City Area Schools.

They are searching for them because they want to take their pictures and hang those portraits in a place of honor - on the Wall of Fame in Heritage Hall.

Since 1976, MCAS has been presenting the award to outstanding employees whose goal has been to contribute in their own ways to the educational experience of MCAS students.

To qualify for nomination, the candidate must have been employed by MCAS for a minimum of 15 years. He or she must have been retired or separated from the school system for at least five years.

Employees from former schools are also eligible for the honor, as are former employees who are deceased.

All nominating applications remain on file for three years. At the end of that time, candidates must be re-nominated. When candidates are removed from the active list, the person who nominated them will be notified.

Nomination forms are available at school offices, the Transportation/Service and Plant Planning Buildings, the Administra-tion Building, and the Michigan City Public Library. The form is also available on the MCAS Web site, www.mcas.k12.in.us.

The deadline to submit nominations is May 1. For more information, contact Betsy Kohn at 873-2000, Ext. 8365.
