Dante Combs led all scorers with 26.

Tyger Campbell of La Lumiere also had 26 points, but anyway, MC was very impressive and played well against the top ranked team in the country. MC will go far this year. Dante Combs had a super all around excellent performance.
Funny thing, someone commented that the MC gym floor always seems dirty. I saw a guy pushing a broom when I walked in, but the floor did appear dirty/dusty even after being swept. Someone over there should look into getting the floor stripped and re-coated again, because it doesn't seem right. I used to strip/wax floors as a janitor and the wax doesn't look right on that floor.

Wow! 20+ years of BB and that is the most points put up by an MC squad. Goes to show why they have not been that successful. Mind you this is 20+ years of having all of the talent in MC on one floor(plus kids from Gary, East Chicago, etc) and the 3 point shot!!!!

Posted by: taxthedeer Feb 2 2017, 09:10 PM

Last 2 years 9-1 VS. Illinois schools but 5-8 VS. the DAC??? Does not make any sense.

The reason they are winning more games than what they did in the past is because they are playing more games than they did in the past..

I think City has a good chance. Only lost to Valpo on a buzzer beater and beat both Merrillville and Crown Point on the road. Having the week off to prepare should be a big help.

The Merrillville game changed when Lux didn't get Jackson out of the game quick enough and he picked his 3rd and 4th fouls early in the 3rd quarter and barely played in the second half.]

The Crown Point game was notable because they played the entire game without their sick starting center.

Final score from the Wolves Den.
Michigan City 72 Valparaiso 55
Salih Washington with the big double double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Dante Combs also poured in 19 points .
City gets Merrillville in the semis Friday night at MCHS.

It was too good to be true. 10 seniors and home court for sectionals and regionals. Let's focus now on the spring sports. Many individuals in track can shine again. I guess this isn't a basketball town after all. I guess further proof that the BB sectional titles in the 60's and 70's were way over rated. Beating up on Union Mills, New Prairie, Westville and St. Mary's not to hard to win a title.

Merrillville won the regional title last night and advanced to semi-state.

In 8 years under John Boyd, Michigan City has now gone 0-4 VS, the Bucs in sectional play.

Meanwhile, Michigan City Marquette won their 3rd regional title in 4 seasons tonight with a 67-65 come from behind win over Gary Roosevelt tonight and will face Frankton in the semi-state (most likely at Huntington North).

Since Marquette won sectional last year and regional this year means the Blazers have achieved their 3 success factor points to remain in class 2A for the next two years for boys basketball.

It is also impressive that both Marquette boys and girls programs have reached the semi-state round in the same season.

Still not sure which conference Marquette will compete in next year now that their days in the Greater South Shore Conference are over. Right now it is looking like the Blazers will become an independent for the forseeable future..
