The biggest weekend of the summer is on tap for Michigan City. There is just tons of stuff going that is worth noting and checking out.
-First off is First Friday going on in the Uptown Arts District. Always tons of people, plus a lot of new stores to see. -Taste of Michigan City is happening both Friday (4pm to 10pm) and Saturday (noon to 10pm). It is a great chance to check some eateries that you might not have ate at before, or usually don't get the chance to see. -The VFW summerfest is going on Saturday from 2pm to 10pm up at Post 2536 located on Ohio and Earl. It is a chance to listen to some live music, have some good food, hear Junior and the Ignitors, and best of all, drop some dollars that directly benefits our local veterans and heroes. I highly recommend checking it out. -Sauers Ford is sponsoring the Drive 4 Your School test drive event on Saturday from 10am to 2pm. All you have to do is test drive a vehicle, and Sauers will donate $20 to the MCHS basketball and football programs. That is $20 for each person that test drives. They promise a no pressure, and no obligation test drive. PLEASE go in and help out City sports. -Finally it is the weekend of the 6th annual Great Lakes Grand Prix. All kinds of really cool events are going on, and can be found at http://www.michigancitysuperboat.com/schedule. Here are the highlights as far as I am concerned... Friday you can meet the racers starting at 7pm at Crawfords Pub. Saturday noon to 5pm on the beach is their practices and testing. Saturday 6pm is the boat parade. Sunday at 11am and 1pm is the actual races. IF I MISSED ANY EVENTS, please post them or PM me and I will add them. |
