Company has filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy and plans to sell off 2,400 stores.

The Michigan City store moved out of the Marquette Mall years ago and moved to Franklin St. next to KFC. Looks like it's days could be numbered.

I haven't shopped there in years and if I need any Radio Shack type items I go to Tri-State Electrical Supply behind the McDonald's Playplace on Franklin St. If Tri-State don't have it they could probably order it.

When my mom worked at Lowe's in the electrical department and they did not carry a specific specialty item she would send them to Tri-State.

They are dying because they changed their business model. And left it wide open to the Chinese, and eBay. The original model was for Electronics & Communication Hobbyist and Techs. (CB, Ham, TV etc). Then they tried to get into consumer electronics and gadgets and toys where the market was already saturated. So techs could not find soldering irons, solder, and components. I am one of those TECHS that used to shop at Radio Shack often. It got so you couldn't even get a TV antenna there. Places like MC still uses antennas to pickup both South Bend and Chicago stations. Be being a 'smart a$$ kid' could redesign my own, and picked up stations from Milwaukee, and Grand Rapids as well. So we had about 23+ channels before cable came to MC.

Oh Well another one bites the dust.

Best Buy and the like will probably soon follow. Still got my DX-400. Only problem is that I can't get the BBC anymore.
