A heads up to everyone out there, the right lane of northbound Franklin Street is blocked from Highway 20 all of the way up to 11th St for repaving. As we speak they are tearing it up at about St John's church. It appears like it will be an on-going project, so I would advise people to avoid Franklin if at all possible.

Per the Mayor's office, the plan is to repave all four lanes on Franklin St between 11th Street and Highway 20 in this project. They are also working to upgrade any non-compliance sidewalks to ADA standards.

Now North of Coolspring, all of the way to 11th street is down to only one lane on Frankln. The lane lines are fluid and move around based on where you are, so really pay attention to the other drivers around you. Also the turnlanes are being used for lines of regular traffic, so when one person wants to turn left, everyone else backs up behind that person, until there is a break in traffic and they can clear the intersection.

I pretty much always avoid Franklin St. Ohio Street and Woodland Ave are nice alternatives. |

Today on Franklin they have the northbound traffic driving through the area they stripped of yesterday, so be aware of all of those sewer caps and the like that are now sticking out. The City is currently stripping off the northbound left lane, so crossing the street is tricky whereever the work is going on.

Franklin Street update. They are currently tearing the surface off of the right line for southbound traffic. They also have repaved the right lane for northbound traffic, so the project is moving along at a pretty good pace. Again, pay attention for quickly changing traffic configurations and what other drivers are doing. It is still pretty chaotic out there.

Good news on the Franklin Street work. The paving work is done. All five lanes have been repaved. Now all that remains is for the lane lines to be painted in, and for the sensors that singal the traffic lights to change have to be re-installed. So there might be minor disruptions to traffic while this is done, but the worst is over for Franklin St users! Great quick job done by the Street Department! Thanks!
