QUOTE Michigan City will begin the New Year with a new police chief, as Marty Corley will take charge of the police department beginning January 1st. Current police chief Steve Forker will replace Corley as assistant chief. Corley, a 23-year veteran of the department, said his priorities will include adequate staffing of patrol officers and additional staffing in the investigative division, along with more officers working in community policing. The move is part of the new administration being put together by city councilwoman Angie Nelson Deuitch, who will be sworn in as mayor on December 30th. Deuitch soundly defeated current mayor Duane Parry in the November 7th election. |
