Wolves are off to a 2-5 start but have played and are going to continue to play an exceptionally brutal non-conference schedule.

Does anybody feel that playing the tough non-conference schedule will translate in success in both the DAC and Class 4A sectional 2?

Last two seasons City finished in 2nd place in the DAC standings and have never won a sectional since 20 years after consolidation and have reached the sectional title game twice and have produced no DAC championships in the last six seasons under John Boyd.

Currently the Merrillville Pirates are undefeated and are the #2 ranked team in the state in both the coaches and 4A AP poll.

City plays the Bucs at home on senior night and are a probable sectional opponent.

Sectionals are at Crown Point this year.

I do feel this schedule will translate into success in the DAC and Sectional 2. 2 of the 5 losses were on buzzer beaters(Concord and North Farmington), Another was a 3 point loss at home to Indy Tech. They got blown out at Lalumiere but we all saw that coming. The Riley game was bad especially from a defensive standpoint. I think we gotta remember this team was 4-7 last year before reeling off 10 wins in 11 games. Schedule gets easier now with the Duneland schedule cranking up. Curie will be tough and they are probably the toughest team we have left on our schedule.

City has lost to the #16 team in the AP poll, the #19 team in the Sagarin ratings, the #3 team in the entire country, and the #7 team in the state of Michigan.

Concord is the only bad loss.

I think it will help to know that the easiest part of their schedule will be the DAC schedule.

Let's be honest, the tough schedule will help however they will not win the DAC or sectional again this season. The football team will win a sectional before the basketball team does. Never thought that would happen with consolidation but that looks to be the case.

City wins over Curie tonight by forfeit. Score will go down as 21-18. Very bizzare. Apparently Curie coach was mad at all the travels that were being called. Good game up to that point.

City boys at Chicago for the MLK shootout on Monday before traveling to Munster on Tuesday night.

City wins in a forfeit at 3:10 of the 2nd quarter 21-18.

Sitting on the second row the scores bench, here is what I saw and heard. Apparently their head coach was mad because they were calling the traveling much tighter than they were used too, even though he had only called 3 of them. Their head coach started throwing a temper tantrum, saying that he was "going to pull his team off of the floor, if they (the refs) didn't quit cheating". He came over and said it to Coach Boyd, he said it to our AD who tried to calm him down, and he said to the officials. Finally at the end of a time out that Curie called, he said the right thing while at the end of his bench by a ref who finally T'd him up. At that point he took his team and literally walked off of the floor to his locker room. The official let him get all of the way off of the floor, and around the corner before coming over to the scorers table, waving his arms off and calling the game. At that point the refs went to their locker room.

A couple of minutes later, Curie came back out to the floor, but the officials refused to come out saying the game was over.

In all of my years, I have never seen anything quite like it.
