Nexus among low bidders

Published: Wednesday, March 31, 2010 4:17 AM CDT
LA PORTE — Five companies submitted proposals Tuesday in La Porte County’s third bid process to complete its 2010 state-mandated property value reassessments.

One of the lowest bidders was Nexus Group, the Zionsville, Ind., company that performed La Porte County’s 2006 reassessments. Nexus’ original reassessments had to be redone, and county officials and taxpayers are still debating their validity in court.

The bids are:

• A&S Associates: $1,640,000.

• Nexus Group: $1,684,000.

• Tyler Technologies: $1,825,400.

• Accurate Assessments Inc.: $1,986,000.

• Ad Valorem Solutions: $2,784,650.

A&S Associates is based in New Albany, Ind. Tyler Technologies is a nationwide firm; its nearest satellite office is in Park Ridge, Ill. Accurate Assessments is based in Fort Wayne, and Ad Valorem Solutions is in Kokomo, Ind.

The bids will be reviewed by County Commission President Barb Huston, County Councilman Rich Mrozinski, County Attorney Craig Braje and Assessor Carol McDaniel, and McDaniel will make a recommendation to the commissioners. The reassessment contract will be awarded at the commissioners’ April 6 meeting.
